Jewish Living Experience exhibition is launched in Norwich

Hundreds of Norfolk schoolchildren and members of the public will be learning about the Jewish way of life this month following the launch of the Jewish Living Experience (JLE) at Norwich Cathedral last week.

Children from all over the region will attend the JLE, which is aimed primarily at school groups and enables visitors to gain an insight into Judaism as a living faith. The exhibition, organised by Education Development Manager Sara Perlmutter, supports the teaching of Judaism in line with all agreed religious education and citizenship curriculums. It will run in Norwich for the next two weeks.

Following the launch, which was attended and addressed by the Canon of Norwich Cathedral, Andrew Bryant and the Lord Mayor of Norwich, Board of Deputies Vice President Edwin Shuker said: “I am delighted that the Jewish Living Experience exhibition is being held in Norwich – a city with a long and, in ancient times, dark,  Jewish history. Over the next two weeks hundreds of non-Jewish school children will have the opportunity to learn about our beliefs, culture and practices, which is fundamental in promoting understanding and respect for our community.”

Robert Vertes, representing the Board of Deputies community education and interfaith division offered thanks to our hosts, guests and the4 Cathedral education team who have supported this initiative.
