#Golders Green Together launched to unite local community against extremism

Golders Green Together, a campaign to make a community-led response to an anticipated far-right demonstration in the area, was launched this week by the London Jewish Forum, Hope Not Hate and the Board of Deputies of British Jews.

Jewish, Muslim, Sikh and Christian faith leaders were joined by Mike Freer, MP for Golders Green and Andrew Dismore, London Assembly Member for Camden and Barnet and others to hold banners proclaiming unity and celebrating diversity.

The group will be co-ordinating a day of action on Friday July 3 in order to display the unity of the area in the face of the extremist threat.

Board of Deputies of British Jews President Jonathan Arkush said: “It is inspirational that the local faith communities and people across the spectrum of society have come together to declare with one their voice their total rejection of antisemitism and all forms of racism.  The launch of Golders Green Together is a clear demonstration that Jews will not be left to fight antisemitism alone.”

Adrian Cohen, Chair of London Jewish Forum, said, “It was fantastic to see such great support from leaders across the communities of Golders Green. We’d like to thank all who turned up for the launch of this initiative, in particular our local elected representatives. Today’s launch underlines the enthusiastic spirit with which we will aim to ensure the voice of Golders Green’s diverse community is heard.”
