Board of Deputies urges UK Government not to send politicians to Beijing Winter Olympics

Board of Deputies President Marie van der Zyl has called on UK Government politicians and dignitaries to stay away from the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics in protest at Chinese genocide against the Uyghur people in Xianjing region.

Marie said: “The Board of Deputies of British Jews endorses the call on the UK Government to decline invitations for politicians and dignitaries to attend the 2022 Beijing Olympic Games, unless the Government of the People’s Republic of China ends the genocide taking place against the Uyghur people in the Xianjing region. The Olympics must not be used as a tool to whitewash the atrocities taking place in China.”
